La Scabreuse (France): Taïteul

Kiasma Theatre

Sat 10.5. 19.00, Sun 11.5. klo 17.00

The new classic of ultracircus!

A Juggler, an Acrobat and a Musician are imprisoned in white box splattered with lists, drawings, graphical signs and marks. The audience traverses hilarious and nightmarish fable, a succension of amusing situations where theatrical intensity, clownish inspiration, the power of juggling and acrobatics suspend judgement.

Taïteul creates tensions in explanations of current social changes (globalisation, revolutions, fashion and cloning) and contemporary maladies (Alzheimer, AIDS, unemployment, terrorism). These are combining to engender a universal sense of uncertainty that threatens to overwhelm our lives with identity problems. Taïteul gives no answers, but sows questions. Allegorically, poetically, and critically it shows how we are frenetically running after something meaningful.

The director, Jean-Michel Guy is one of the most significant researchers and writers of the French contemporary circus. Guy´s first direction moves in to new areas of the contemporary circus.
